I connected the LAN output of the gilat skyedge ip modem to one of the LAN ports on the billion bipac 7404v router (used the supplied cable, its red...so maybe a cross over) and connected another LAN port on the billion router with a patch cable to the PC and it works. but i want to be able to log into the billion router and setup the wireless function.

i tried going to the default router IP address but no luck. any ideas?

cheers

Skyedge modem needs to be in the outgoing port for the router, and has to be controlled by the router, or it can't find a route to other networks.

if it already is, the the laptop doesn't have a default gateway address in the network configuration settings.

You will need to access the home page of your router and clone the MAC address
of your modem, there should be a control to do this on the router setup page,
assuming you have a cable router and not ADSL.
