I am currently looking for something to replace my existing HughesNet service in light of recent changes to the FAP and my commitment no longer being an issue.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with HughesNet compared to WildBlue, and perhaps they can share their opinions.

If it helps any, I am a pretty heavy downloader. Thanks!

Numerous problems with WB service

I live 50 miles north of Mojave, Ca and have had WB value Pack for 13 months. I finished my 1 year contract in March.
I had numerous problems with WB service for over 9 months, but SOME of the problems were due to inexperienced Direct tv satellite installers that DSI (WBs installation end) sent out here. I didn't know what to look for when they installed the system. WildBlue tech support ALWAYS assumes it's just your computer that is the problem OR they send a truck roll for $ and replace the tria and modem, that changes nothing.
I finally got a decent truck roll that completely replaced the WHOLE installation in Nov. of last year. It still didn't change anything until January 07. Since January I am getting the speeds I pay for although https sites are slow but usable, and some page timeouts.
If you decide on WB, you will probably be on beam 30, Riverside gateway which is still on anikF2 because it's not sold out yet.

Good Luck
