Satellite Internet wanted in Australia

Satellite Internet wanted in Australia

Postby Tisatashar » Wed Apr 27, 2005 2:19 am

G'Day members,

Could someone post us up some names of companies we can contact for Satellite Internet access in Australia? We have tried a bit through the phone books and it seems hard to get any information. ADSL, broadband or dial up are the only language people understand down here and the mention of satellite internet only draws a blank expression on their faces.....or a look of horror. Can someone post up the name of a contact or two please?

I have been looking around myself for satellite as we cannot get ISDN or broadband and have found BoderNET to be very reasonable in price and very helpful. They service Australia & New Zealand and do VoIP as well.

Paul, The technology to provide mobile Internet services in Australia is very new.It can be somewhat expensive at this stage and therefore suited to businesses or government agencies only.

My understanding is that in terms of bandwidth charges Satellite internet is quite viable. There are number of satellites and competition is fierce. When it comes to license it can be expensive and so are the charges for installation and maintenance. But these are local charges and provided you are willing to accept the local conditions I think satellite internet is quite a viable option. I can send you quote for bandwidth and help you with information how to get license and installation charges. The service will be provided from Teleport in Hong Kong.
Please email me for further details.
Thanks
