Norsat International Inc., founded in 1977, is a leading provider of broadband communication solutions that enable the transmission of data, audio and video in remote and austere environments. Norsat's products and services include microwave components, portable satellite systems, maritime solutions, wireless network solutions, and equipment financing. Norsat also provides engineering consulting to meet customers’ specific needs.

Summary:

Norsat is looking for a Software Design Engineer to join our multi-disciplinary engineering team. Norsat designs and builds a line of portable satellite terminals for broadcasters, disaster relief, tele-medicine and government applications. The terminals are highly integrated and comprise many electrical and mechanical components. The control software and innovative GUI are key to making the terminals automated and easy to use.

Responsibilities:

* Work as an integral member of the software development team to maintain/enhance application software written in C# using the Microsoft .Net framework.
* Provide documentation and support of software systems.
* Work with QA to define and run test procedures, to track and repair defects, and ensure appropriate revision control processes are followed

Education and Level of Overall Experience:

* BSc in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (Software Engineering Option)
* Knowledge of software engineering methodology and object oriented programming.
* Having at least 5 years programming experience with C# using VS2005/2008 framework is necessary.
* Knowledge of client/server model and multi-threaded programming is necessary.
* Knowledge of TCP/IP and RS-232 programming.
* Knowledge of Windows Presentation Foundations (WPF)
* Ability to test and debug software that interfaces to hardware is necessary.
