Greetings,

I live in the town of Bavaro, Dominican Republic. We are on the far eastern coast of DR, unfortunately CLARO does not offer cable internet service to my residential area and I am using TRICOM with a Winmax modem 5mb/768. It is great when working but has a lot of down time. Is there a viable satellite internet option that you could offer me?

By the way I will soon be installing a 10 ...

The last 3 weeks we were able to test the SurfBeam modems used by UnaSat in the Dominican Republic with differetn packages

Model: Surfbeam SM1000
prot: DocSis 1.1
Sat: IA8 at 89 deg
BUC: 3 watt
Dish: 1.2meter Rx/Tx Andrew (both models I and II tested)
Signal: 80-95% Q-scale on Birdog , 9.5-10.7 S-scale on birdog

All test had at least 2 hours or more, on 2 different times on a Friday, during the weekend ...

I would like to know what are the possibilities to get satellite internet service when you live in Dominican republic.
Does it depend of where you are exactly ? What are the best offers for 4 to 8 computers in an internet cafe ? Thanks.

On this moment we have satelite internet access from Codetel, its ok but expensive.

I got a DirecWay 6000 system everything is set up at DirecWay, but here in Dominican Republic there are no field tech. I'm good pointing 6 feet dish for Directv and Dishnetwork, but I would like to do it myself here at the Island. Any help?? Thanks.

The latest information abpout the DW 7000 / 7700 is that the system only will be activated on AMC9 and thus has NO FOOTPRINT in the Dominican Republic.

A new satellite will be launched but unknown when, and what the footprint will be.

I need a internet sat provider for a surfbeam modem sm1000 in Dominican republic that wil provide 1 gb a day download. As equipment i  have a 2 watt BUC and a Channel Master 1.8mt dish.

I also have a 3100 idirect modem but dont know if it will work with the 2 watt BUC and the channel master dish.
