Heavily corroded satellite internet transmitter

I was troubleshooting a system lately, and determined there was a bad transmitter. After replacing it and getting the system operational, I decided to have a look inside the bad transmitter, just for fun.

Notice that the white stuff is not my misplaced powdered sugar from this morning's waffle breakfast. It is totally corroded out. No wonder it doesn't work!

Spectrum Analyser input frequency

When you go looking for a specific Satellite using the analyser, why do you need to input a frequency into the analyser in the 950 - 2150 MHz range?

I install satellite broadband for a number of operators who use different satellites. They give me a specific frequency in the 950-2150MHz range to input before searching for the satellite.

Lost Tracking on Inclined Orbit

We switched 2 months ago from geo stationary VSAT to inclined orbit. We have Vertex 4.8m to IS-603. It worked flawlessly for 2 months and then 3 times in last 8 days at 0230 GMT the link dropped. It was always the tracking. The screen on Antennae controller looks as if it is in manual mode, but the auto light was lit.

Does anyone have experience where we should be looking? I doubt it is ...

Self Install Two Way Satellite Internet

Anyone know of any ISP's that provide two way Internet that will allow self-installs? My home is in America (Florida) however I am currently stationed in Guantanamo Bay (GTMO), Cuba which limits who can come and do an installation. Any advice on a two way provider that will allow a self install is appreciated.

Router Hosted Hughes Net FAP Monitor

Router Hosted Hughes Net FAP Monitor

Description
This script fap-monitor.sh runs quite nicely on a Linksys WRT54GL router under Tomato firmware. I'm not sure what other routers or firmwares it might work with. It is for use on HughesNet satellite connections, which implement Fair Access Policy (FAP) i.e. the WAN bandwidth is severely limited for over 24 hours when a predefined amount of data is transferred between certain hours of the day.

This script allows ...

Xplornet low download speeds

My download speeds with Xplornet range from 12kb/s to 116 Kb/second :!: I pay
$84.00/month for this. This is still faster than my download speeds on dial up

I test on other test sites I am getting between 450 to 600 kb/sec that's not even
close to the one Mb/sec ...
