iDirect 3100 Issues

Postby internet_solidaire » Mon May 14, 2007 5:04 am

I have a brand new iDirect system that I have recently installed. I am using Eutelsat W6 and I am at Taji, Iraq. I bought a satellite meter to aid in my lack of dish pointing knowledge and aligned my dish to W6 with the meter. My Satellite ISP had me download iSite and am I using it to access my reciever. I got a signal from W6 with the meter (PQ=99) but the iSite software keeps telling me that I have no signal at all?! The Software has been set up for W6 as far as I can tell.
I am also confused about where to proceed from dish alignment, the tech support person I've been talking to at ISP has been less than helpful. Any suggestions on this forum would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Problem could be caused by wrong polarisation

Postby hasse » Mon May 14, 2007 9:36 pm

Possibly problem can be wrong polarisation. If you are sure that the antenna correctly pointed to satellite then please check it with isite. To do this,

1. Switch off the terminal, disconnect the tx cable, switch on it again.
2. Open isite, login to terminal
3. On the left panel, right click on the terminal go to Align Antenna / Antenna pointing
4. Seleck Antenna pointing tab, click ok.
5. You should see continous graph with green color, otherwise it means a locking to downstream error. This can be a result of mispointing, faulty lnb or cable/connector i.e.

If you see the satellite signals on the satellite with meter but not with isite try to align the lnb for opposite polarisation angle.

I hope above explanation can solve your problem.
