Husage: A Better HughesNet Usage Report

Postby linoj » Sun Aug 23, 2009 6:47 am

Hi, I just wanted to let you know that I launched a new free service Husage which provides a better hughesnet usage reports. I wrote this little tool to help my family manage our downloads and help avoid getting "FAP-ed".

Basically it starts with the HughesNet usage report and re-formats it. Husage shows download usage over 24 hour periods, highlights periods in color that exceed given thresholds, and sends you an email alert if your usage level exceeds a threshold.

Feel free to try it and let me know if you run into any issues. Thx.

See ya.

Well this is certainly a commendable service. I question why we have to put our data on your server. Why can not we just put the program on our computers and pull the data without having to give out our site ID to you? :?:

If you were a regular user here I might not be so cautious but with this being your only post I wonder. Not sure what you could do with a hundred or so site ID's if anything but who knows.

I have been trying to do the same thing with an excel chart but just lack the excel skills to pull the data correctly. Ignoring fap free time and pulling back 24 hours when the number of entries varies continually is kinda difficult. For me anyway.

Looks Ok I am just going to sit back and see though.

yeah, i can understand your concern. I really don't have any use for other peoples data, its just the way it works. I created the site for myself and then decided to allow other site ids. I thought it'd be more convenient to set it up as a service than trying to write documentation on how to setup your own web server (husage uses Ruby on Rails). I'm a new subscriber because i googled "hughesnet fap" to find people who might appreciate it.

Hi Hughes1,
I do not know anything about Husage site, but wouldn't he need the site id to pull your usage information?
