Global Telesat is the first European satellite teleport on RASCOM-QAF1R

We are pleased to announce that on 7th February 2012, Global Telesat and RascomStar-QAF have entered into a strong joint venture for the provision of teleport connectivity services and high-speed IP products to the Internet backbone.

Global Telesat, a well-known and well-established company in satellite communications, will now collaborate with RascomStar-QAF to offer Internet services via Satellite connectivity throughout the whole Africa, starting in Angola where it has its subsidiary. The new teleport will be installed in Alicante, Spain, and it will exclusively use the RASCOM-QAF1R satellite in planned C and Ku band frequencies.

“We are delighted to have been selected by RascomStar-QAF as the first European teleport dedicated to RQ1R”, said José-Maria Sanchez, CEO of Global Telesat.

The joint venture will create a new force and will provide growth for the African telecommunications offering an enhanced range of fast, responsive and flexible satellite solutions thanks to the RQ1R pan-African coverage, at the most competitive prices.

Thanks to this collaboration, Global Telesat and RascomStar-QAF will deliver more optimized services to all types of customers from SME's to large corporations, telecom operators and ISPs across the African continent including underserved communities. Internet via Satellite introducing standard and planned C and Ku Band, virtually interference free bands, is the only solution for communications connectivity for many people living in rural areas of the African continent where fiber connections are not available.

Faraj Elamari, CEO of RascomStar-QAF commented: “Global Telesat’s Teleport will help us to address the connectivity needs of thousands of our customers on a very cost effective basis in Africa”.
